Reading CAP

During 2007 Devon CAP was approached by Grace Turner, who having returned from working for ICAP in the USA, was keen to set up a Reading CAP project.
With the support from us here in Devon enough money was secured, from the Henry Smith Charitable Trust and Awards for All, to train a team of facilitators in Reading. The Reading pilot project was launched in the spring term 08. The team worked in four Reading schools reaching 336 children with great success. The parent, staff and children all responded with enthusiasm to the project.

A Reading Primary School Head teacher commented:

“I feel this is a very worthwhile project and am happy to support it.”

“It meets the needs of our community….there is an advantage to keeping it a little separate.”

The Big Lottery Fund has allowed the work in Reading to develop by funding the Team leader for five years and a BME worker to work along side her. The Reading team decided to change their name to Berkshire CAP as part of their development and have recently launched their own web site- berkshirecap.org
